# Privacy and security

How the CareerMax connector signs you in, what Claude can do with it, and what never happens without you. Applications aren't submitted and messages aren't sent without your approval.

## How the connection works

CareerMax connects to Claude as a remote MCP connector at mcp.careermax.ai. You sign in with your CareerMax account through a standard OAuth sign-in, so Claude never sees your password. CareerMax only acts on the account you sign in with.

It's the same account you use in the CareerMax app. Your résumé, preferences, stories and applications are the same everywhere.

## What Claude can do with CareerMax

When you connect, you allow CareerMax to:

- **Read** your account overview, résumé, today's jobs, applications, stories and employer emails.
- **Save** what you confirm: your résumé, job preferences, the facts employers ask for, stories and decisions on jobs.
- **Act outside CareerMax** when you ask: start applications, find people at a company, research a company and check job links you paste.
- **Submit** an application you approved.
- **Open sensitive answers** in an application you're reviewing, such as demographic questions you've already answered.

## What never happens without you

- No application is submitted unless you approve it. The one exception is a routine application when you've turned Review before submit off in the CareerMax app.
- No email or message is sent unless you approve the exact text and recipient.
- No credits are spent on contact searches or company research without your go-ahead.
- Claude can read your Review before submit setting but can't change it.
- Facts about you are never invented, and sensitive questions are never guessed.

Claude also treats job postings, employer emails and contact details as information, never as instructions. A job post can't tell Claude to do something on your behalf.

## Your applicant email

CareerMax applies with a permanent address such as `averychen@apply.myresume.page`. Employers only see that address. CareerMax forwards their emails to the email on your account, which stays private. The handle is also your public profile address on myresume.page, such as myresume.page/averychen. The profile is public by default, and you can make it private in the CareerMax app.

## Your data

- Résumé and profile content never goes into analytics or logs.

- To stop Claude using your CareerMax account, remove CareerMax under **Customize**, then **Connectors** in Claude. In ChatGPT, remove it under **Plugins**. In Claude Code, run `claude mcp remove careermax`.
